Project Alfred started off with talking about a kitchen renovation which turned into a laundry room renovation! There were so many design factors for the kitchen that the clients decided to wait to think about the process. However, in the meantime they wanted the laundry room revamped to provide more storage but also be a comfortable and relaxing place to go laundry.
Old
The old Laundry room had upper cabinets that didn’t reach the ceiling (aka wasted space in my eyes 😉), a laundry tub that was placed within a stock size MDF cabinet that didn’t provide great storage underneath, no properly laundry basket storage and a very small broom closet. Below I have attached photos of what the laundry room looked like before LM Interiors Design Studio transformed this old space into something new and exciting.
New
In the new design we created a hanging space above the washer and dryer to provide functional drying space using a clothing rod and a fixed shelf above for decorative items. To the right of the hanging rod section we have a cabinet that sits on the counter with interior pullout storage. Great for detergent, scented beads, and all the extra cleaning supplies that you may have.
Adjacent on the sink wall, we added in a unique, box shelf that is so cute and truly makes this project one of a kind. This shelf is beautiful yet provides access to items such as clothes pins, dryer balls and many other items that can also be decorative. (A great place to store folded towels as well!). We added cabinets above the shelf for extra storage. Items stored here may not be used on a daily basis. Below the countertop we designed an opening just for your laundry baskets! No need for them to sit on the floor or on the counter.
The pantry section was a mandatory cabinet the clients had requested. They had a cabinet here before and one beside the sink so we were able to fit everything they had before from 2 cabinets into 1. There is enough room with the 3 equally sized door to still have room for a freestanding vacuum, mops & buckets!
This laundry room really has a lot of unseen functional characteristics to it which makes it so great! Check out the finished project below, now that LM Interiors Design Studio has worked their magic!
